Find a Niche, Not a Job!
I have spoken to many people over the years about economic development and bringing industry into depressed areas. And quite frankly, most do not understand the difference between a business and a job.
If you have a job, you trade your time for your employer’s money. Think about that – you are trading a very precious commodity, your time, for something of limited value, the cash. On the other hand, if you have a business, the profits are unlimited. Trying to attract jobs to a town is not a good answer for the economy – attracting more business, on the other hand, is very good!
But if you really want to transform the economy of a community, then teach the people in that community to think entrepreneurally. Teach them to find a niche, find the needs in that niche and then fulfill that need for a profit.
Does that mean we have to teach the whole town these entrepreneurial skills?
Well, not right away. I said start with your community. Start by helping those in your niche. When your customers succeed, you succeed wildly. From there, spread the word to others: friends, family, members of your church then keep going until you’ve finally spread the word to the whole town.
Of course, this will take a while, but in the mean time offer free courses to your church and even to your community. Tell them that the reason you do all this is because Jesus Christ is not just Lord of your heart; He is Lord of your business as well and He is Lord of their business! He owns it all!
It is really that simple. Again, FIND INTERNET NICHE MARKETS, groups on the Internet that have a specific interest. Use a free survey program like surveymonkey.com to ask the people in that group what are the things they want most (the need for the niche) and then do a Google search for that product with the words “affiliate program” after it.
You will find more products to fill that need than you can shake a stick at! Put up a web page with those products and add some “buy it” buttons, invite that group to your web site and then collect their emails so you can tell them more about their niche every week.
People love to talk about their passions, and your emails let them do that. Everyone loves to learn more about their interests, or to hear of someone else who shares the same passions. Share the joy with your customers, and get ready to make amazing profits with your online business.
