Can You Really Make Money With Multi Level Marketing (MLM)?
When people hear about multi level marketing or MLM, they often begin to think that they’re dealing with some type of scam or pyramid scheme. While it’s good to be cautious and to be careful about any type of arrangement that supposedly makes you money, it’s also good to understand that not every way to make money online is a scam! There are many MLM opportunities that involve legitimate selling and legitimate ways to earn a residual income. The key is just doing your research about any and all MLM opportunities you come across and understanding how to really earn an income and how to tell the ones that are nothing more than empty schemes.
When presented with an MLM opportunity, you need to think about what is being sold. The concept of multi level marketing simply means that those working above salespersons can earn commission or payment for what that person sells. As long as an MLM opportunity has a real product that a person really sells, there’s nothing about this that is a scam. Many companies work this way; this of items you may purchase at home parties. One representative may get commission from everything sold at one home party, and the host or hostess of that home party gets commission from what is sold at home parties arranged by their guests. These types of MLM are not seen as schemes or scams, and rightly so, because a real product is being sold each time. There’s no reason why someone higher up the ladder shouldn’t receive commission on sales generated by everyone that works underneath him or her. The bottom line is that MLM itself is not a scheme or scam, but some pyramid schemes and other types of scams try to represent themselves as being legitimate multi level marketing opportunities.
An MLM opportunity becomes a problem when the company receives money simply by signing up new agents; they may ask for fees up front to sign on new “salespersons” and this practice is probably illegal. For an MLM to be legitimate, the company must be selling a product. As long as this is how revenue is generated, there is nothing illegal about compensating the sales force with commission for sales those working under them generate.
It’s good to be cautious about a so-called MLM opportunity but again, not all selling and commission based income is a scam. Many legitimate companies use this type of compensation for those who sell their products. Having an MLM opportunity online can be a perfectly legitimate way to earn a residual income, if you’re selling jewelry or supplements or even candles. You can work under a representative that works under a director or another representative, and everyone is compensated fairly according to the sales they generate. So remember to be cautious when considering an arrangement but don’t let that caution cause you to miss out on a legitimate way to earn money at home, online.
